How important are sale events for your business, and what sort of benefits do you get from them? What size is the uptick in sales you see during these periods?
Jaimie Ianson, Leader Computers:
“At Leader we see a massive uplift in business from our large online retailers during the Black Friday / Cyber Monday period, approximately 15-20% for the ones who actively market during these sales. It is an excellent opportunity for them to move ageing stock and gain new customers.
Not all of the retailers take advantage of the sales, but we find the ones who participate normally do very well. At Leader our aim is to keep our resellers growing and profitable. Sales like these are the ultimate time for the online retailers to get vendor support to move both exciting new products and ageing lines, which can help their business grow in multiple ways.
We definitely encourage our resellers to get involved. End of financial year is still the strongest [sales period] in general, with Christmas right behind it. With quarterly BAS these days EOFY has less impact than it used to though. December is usually a very strong month for us both in retail and also the server space as many companies refresh their hardware over the holiday break, and education also gears up for their refresh cycle.”
