After an impressive launch, publishers pull out of GeForce Now
BOTH ACTIVISION AND BETHESDA HAVE DELISTED THEIR GAME ON THE STREAMING SERVICE
GeForce Now isn’t even out in Australia yet, but last month we reported that it could give Google Stadia a serious run for its money. But not all is well with Nvidia’s streaming service, with major publishers Activision and Bethesda withdrawing their games from the service only weeks into its launch. Activision’s games were abruptly removed on February 16, due to confusion regarding whether the company’s games would be included during the service’s free trial period. It turns out, Nvidia thought it was fine;
Activision didn’t. When Bethesda pulled out a week later no similar reason was given, though Nvidia did offer this general statement: ““As we approach a paid service, some publishers may choose to remove games before the trial period ends. Ultimately, they maintain control over their content and decide whether the game you purchase includes streaming on GeForce Now. Meanwhile, others will bring games back as they continue to realise GeForce Now’s value.”
