Seagate FireCuda Gaming SSD

An easy, instant, speedy storage upgrade.

Whether used for its marketed gaming purpose, or just as a very speedy portable external SSD, the FireCuda Gaming SSD is appealing. With a caveat… the claimed maximum speed of 2,000MB/s is only achievable if connected via the very new and currently rare USB 3.2 2x2 standard. In testing on a PC with the more common USB 3.2 Gen2 we saw read and write speeds just shy of 900MB/s – which is still well fast enough to make this interesting, and you could view the 2x2 support as good future-proofing. Inside is a standard Seagate M.2 510 NVMe SSD attached to a board. It looks slick and has a restrained RGB band around it, and appears to be very solidly built.
