Making a skin
If you want to create your own skin – or make some more extensive edits to someone else’s – you will want to get to grips with the Lua coding language and the elements that are used to create Rainmeter skins.
Each skin is comprised of various parts. “Measures” read information from your computer (such as its GPU temperature), a website, text file, or other external source. “Meters,” on the other hand, are used to create visuals, including charts, images, buttons, and more. To make your skin work with other skins or apps, you will need to use commands called “bangs,” while you can customise things like a skin’s colours or position using text strings that are called “variables.”
These are the basic building blocks of Rainmeter skins. The Rainmeter website has an excellent, extensive manual that will walk you through every step of creating your own skin. It also has a wealth of handy tips and tricks, as well as a forum that’s full of helpful topics and discussions.
