Saving your skin

-

Rainmeter has a couple of different ways to save and export your skins, but you will need to know the differences to ensure your files are safely backed up.

The first is your skin layout, which saves the current positions and settings of your skins. Open the program’s “Manage” panel, then click the “Layouts” tab. Click the name of the skin you want to save on the right, then click “Save.”

Note that layouts do not save any of the files you use in your skin (such as images), nor any of the skin’s folders. To back these up, you can copy the skin’s folder from “Documents ≥ Rainmeter ≥ Skins” to a safe location.

Alternatively, you can export the skin as a RMSKIN file. This will include everything needed for the skin to run, including its files. Open the “Manage” window, click your skin’s name, then click “Create .rmskin package” and follow the on-screen instructions. When you are finished, safe the RMSKIN file to a backup location.
