Pilots report guy in jetpack doing LAX flybys

The airspace around airports is generally pretty controlled in order to maintain safety, but on August 30th planes landing at LAX had an unexpected wingman... a guy in a jetpack. The unusual flying object was first sighted by pilots on American Airlines Flight 1997 who alerted the control tower that they just passed “a guy in a jetpack… Off the left side, maybe 300 yards or so.” Not long after the rocketeer was confirmed by a Skywest pilot, with subsequent planes told to keep an eye out for the rogue speed demon.
