Show time!

Back at he world’s biggest PC event

-

The big annual PC show is annual again! After three years of downtime due to Covid, Taiwan finally opened the doors again and the world’s PC and tech companies rejoiced. Finally able to show off their new gear to eager journos like us, it was all there. We went, and we certainly saw a lot. From the showy main area displays with all the hero products, to closed door sessions where we learned a lot about upcoming trends and tech.

Chris has the mission covered, all staring on page 52. He’s done a smashing job of reporting on a huge field of tech and gear. I didn’t go myself because I’m scared of Covid. Chris went, and came back with Covid... But then, without a break, he sat down for three days to write this feature story. What a champ.

Do you use a password manager? Yes? Excellent. No? Ummm… that’s pretty dangerous in this world. With hackers getting more skilled, and their tools ever more sophisticated, you simply can’t afford to put your finances, your privacy and the fundamental security of your online life at risk. Take a look at our article on page 76 and we’ll steer you in the right direction. Things change, so even if you have a password manager all set up (good for you), it could be time to take stock and see if there’s an alternative that does what you want, but better.

This month’s look at AI (I think we’ll be doing a lot of this…) pits Google Bard and ChatGPT against each other. Which is smarter? Which can actually help you most usefully? We’ve got that figured out. Rush off to page 32 to see which one rules. For the moment…

Some lovely reviews are in this issue of APC, too. We’ve been working hard playing games on the Asus ROG Ally, and I’m sure you’d like to know if it’s better than the Steam Deck. We’ve got that figured out, now. Handheld PC gaming is absolutely booming and if you haven’t sampled the pleasures of high performance and graphically lush gaming in your hands, the ROG Ally might just convince you that it’s time to embrace this outstanding way to play.

See you next month!
