Pro­fes­sor Emma John­ston AO is Dean of Science and Pro­fes­sor of Ma­rine Ecol­ogy and Eco­tox­i­col­ogy at UNSW Syd­ney. She is Pres­i­dent of Science & Tech­nol­ogy Aus­tralia, a board mem­ber of the Great Bar­rier Reef Ma­rine Park Au­thor­ity, and Deputy Chair of the Antarc­tic Science Foun­da­tion. Pro­fes­sor John­ston was pre­vi­ously Pro Vice-chan­cel­lor Re­search at UNSW and In­au­gu­ral Direc­tor of the Syd­ney Har­bour Re­search Pro­gram. A highly awarded sci­en­tist and ed­u­ca­tor, she fre­quently con­trib­utes ex­pert opin­ion to gov­ern­ment agen­cies and is a sought-af­ter science com­mu­ni­ca­tor and in­dus­try con­sul­tant.
