Not everyone feels safe or comfortable in public space. Through the building typologies of sports facilities, schools, dormitories and public bathrooms, we explore the issue of how architecture constructs, and is constructed by, gender. Architecture has the opportunity to counter a passive approach to gender – and to speculate on exciting, alternative possibilities.
