DESIGN Canberra is on from 5 to 25 November. The festival comprises more than 100 interactive events and works that explore how geometry, which is a cornerstone of the city and its design history, shapes our lives.

This fifth iteration aims to be relevant on a global stage. On Aspen Island in Lake Burley Griffin, a large installation by Kengo Kuma asks us to engage with the softness, transparency and form of ‘Namako’ (the Japanese word for sea cucumber). American artist Niko Dimitrijevic has developed a work in response to the architecture of the School of Art and Design, Australian National University. Amongst the program of talks, architecture tours and more is a special exhibition presented by CraftACT titled ‘The Void’ celebrating architect Enrico Taglietti’s contribution to Canberra’s built environment with the work of 15 artists including Elliot Bastianon, Sarit Cohen, Judi Elliott, Chelsea Lemon, Tanja Taglietti and Richard Whiteley.
