THE RE INS ONFPOEWPER

The national language of Nepal, Nepali is the official language of Sikkim and the Darjeeling district of West Bengal in India, and is also the dominant language of southern Bhutan. It is closely related to Hindi and the other languages of North India, and possesses a rich body of modern literature. Like most languages in the Indian subcontinent, Nepali incorporates Sanskrit influences and is written in the Devanagari script. The greeting namasté commonly used by Nepali speakers has religious roots and is derived from Sanskrit. Namasté generally means “I honour the God within you”, and may take on an air of deference when people of differing social status and ages are involved.
