Depending on the time of year, opening times vary from 2am to 3am and closing times from 10pm to 11pm. Every night, the holy book is carried to its resting place in the Akal Takhat in a procession, which takes place at 9.30pm in winter and 11pm in summer.

Take a plane to Sri Guru Ram Dass Jee International Airport, and then take a cab or bus directly to the Golden Temple.

Visitors travelling from other cities in India may take a plane, train or bus there. The train station nearest to the temple is Amritsar Railway Station, which is about 2km from the temple. Visitors can walk to the temple from there or take a shuttle bus that runs frequently from Amritsar Bus Station to the temple.
