laos BOUN KHOUN KHAO FESTIVAL

The harvest festival is celebrated in various villages throughout the month

To celebrate the land’s abundance, Laotians bring newly harvested rice to temples and food offerings to the Mekong River during what is also known as the Rice Festival. A “baci” ceremony is also held in villages to give thanks to the land and pray for the villagers.
