All three major carriers, Starhub, Singtel and M1, offer tourist SIM cards that are valid for 7 to 12 days. Circles. Life, My Republic and Zero Mobile do not provide prepaid SIM cards but offer non-contract mobile service packages that are great value for visitors who intend to stay beyond a week in Singapore. There is also the option to customise plans by buying data and talk time in units.

Cost

The 7-day tourist SIM cards cost SGD12 or SGD15 (USD8.9 or USD11.1) and all three carriers offer similar packages (100GB local data, 500 minutes of internatio­nal call time and 100 SMS among others) The 12-day tourist SIM cards cost around SGD30 (USD22) and offer 3GB of data and 3,000 minutes of local call time. Circles. Life offers a onemonth no-contract plan that is a highly economical option for those who need a lot of data; it comes with 20GB of data, 100 minutes of talktime and 25 free SMS messages for SGD18 (USD13.3).

Purchase

SIM cards can be purchased at Changi Airport, carrier shops, 7-Eleven stores, petrol stations, post offices and grocery stores. Passports are required for purchase.

Topping up

Top-ups can be done at carrier stores, 7-Eleven and Cheers convenienc­e stores, authorised dealers, ATMs, SAM stations, AXS stations and Singpost branches. Some retailers also enable online top-ups via websites and apps.
