The three major islands of Luzon, Mindanao and Palawan offer plenty of chances to see the majority of endemic Philippines birds. A good time to visit the Philippines is during the dry season between November and April. January to March is the best period.

• The early bird gets the birds! Start early in the day.

• Wear a hat, put on sunscreen and bring water.

• Necessary tools include a camera with excellent zoom, binoculars, and a spotting scope.

• Add a book on Philippine birds to your list of things to bring.

• Wear drab colors so you won't stand out in your surroundings.

• Never make loud noises just to get birdsto emerge from their hiding places.
