Giordano

- FOUNDER: JIMMY LAI

Giordano was named after a pizza parlour that founder Jimmy Lai once dined at, as he thought that the name would subconsciously evoke images of Italian fashion in the minds of passersby. Lai came from a humble background, and was smuggled into Hong Kong as a 13-year-old, where he worked in a clothing factory as a child labourer. He eventually rose to the role of factory manager, and in 1975, used his annual wage bonus to buy out a bankrupt garment factory, subsequently naming it Giordano. A well-known brand name today, Giordano has markets across Africa, Asia, Oceania, Europe, and the Americas.
