The bubble tea craze has taken the world by storm. With China’s strong tea culture, it is no surprise that Chinese chain Heytea was behind the innovative “cheese tea”, a unique combinatio­n of high-quality tea topped with frothy, blended cream cheese. Founder Neo Nie may only be 28, but he has now establishe­d some 170 stores across China and one in Singapore since opening his first tea shop in Jiangmen, China, in 2012. These days, Heytea has snaking queues with people waiting up to seven hours to get their precious beverages! Each store can sell more than 2,000 cups of tea a day and revenues topped 1 billion yuan (about USD150 million) last year. The brand is already collaborat­ing with big names such as L’oreal, and Heytea is expected to continue to grow across Asia.
