Blanc. Restaurant

-

Listening with the eyes

Founded after the success of its sister company, “Noir. Dining in the Dark”, with the employment of blind and visually- impaired staff, “Blanc. Restaurant” was created to improve the self-confidence and career trajectory of the deaf and hearing-impaired community. It is estimated that 3,550 people are deaf or hearing-impaired in Ho Chi Minh City alone, not to mention the fact that around 65 to 70 percent are without jobs. The restaurant’s concept of ordering meals through sign language has helped boost awareness about the deaf and hearing- impaired community in the region. Making your order isn’t difficult, though, as there are pictograms on the menu and guidebooks are provided at every table, not to mention the enthusiastic support from the staff. Made with a combination of Eastern and Western cooking techniques and ingredients, the restaurant’s dishes are a feast for the eyes and always smell and taste delicious – making one wonder whether the flavours are heightened when eating in a silent environment.
