Banaue Rice Terraces

-

Carved into the mountains of Ifugao by the ancestors of the indigenous people in the Philippines, Banaue Rice Terraces is located approximately 1,500 metres above sea level, the perfect altitude and weather to harvest rice. The structures are originally built with stones and mud walls to carefully carve and construct the terraces to hold flooded pond fields to cultivate rice. In 1995, the rice terraces were designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
