Tata Motors
Founded in 1945 as a maker of locomotives, Tata entered the commercial vehicle sector a decade later with the help of German automotive company Daimler-benz. Today, it is India’s largest automobile company with operations in South Korea, Thailand, Indonesia, South Africa, and the UK. It not only manufactures cars and motorcycles, but also utility vehicles, buses, and defence vehicles. While the Tata Group now owns premium vehicle brands Jaguar and Land Rover, the company also famously created the world’s cheapest car – the Tata Nano – in 2009.
