Save Our Street Dogs (SOSD)

-

Dr Siew Tuck Wah is, surprisingly, not a vet, but a medical aesthetic doctor who owns his own clinic specialising in plastic surgery, aesthetic medicine, and laser treatment for the face and body. To work full-time at Save Our Street Dogs (SOSD), he quit his job and luxurious lifestyle to dedicate his life to the dogs that needed him. In Singapore, stray dogs are being put to sleep due to the lack of space and resources in a rapidly urbanising city. As such, the SOSD mission is to “work to reduce cruelty to dogs by raising public awareness,” “improve the lives of dogs through rescue, rehabilitation, rehoming, and Trap-neuter- Release (TNR) programmes”, “improve appreciation of canine companionship through outreach activities”, and “use canine-related activities for specific beneficiary groups”. In the last year, the organisation has grown by enlisting 123 new volunteers and staff members, all of whom have collectively rehomed 274 dogs, and conducted adoption drives, talks, and training sessions. While Dr Siew is now back to his profession, he still manages his passion, and has a team that shares his vision and devotion for the wellbeing of the country’s street dogs.
