Nike
Nike needs no introduction. The American company is the world’s largest supplier of sports apparel and street fashion, but did you know that Nike was actually opened under the name “Blue Ribbon Sports” to import shoes from Japan? Onitsuka Tiger, one of the oldest Japanese shoe companies, first expanded their market in America through Philip Knight, the founder of Blue Ribbon Sports, who had convinced them to ship their products over for sale, promising success. And successful it was. Shortly after, their “swoosh” logo was created, and a decade later, their own shoes and clothing, which were mostly produced (and still are) in China, Thailand, South Korea, and Vietnam. With this history, you could say while the brains behind Nike were American entreprenuers, its “sole” is essentially Asian!
