Monad Shoal Malapascua, Cebu
Monad is the only place in the world that guarantees sightings of thresher sharks, and brings you up close despite their shy personalities – but make sure you’re out there early! The site is a 40-minute boat ride from Malapascua Island. Thresher sharks and manta rays can be seen all year round, while hammerheads can be seen between December and April. There are also reef sharks, tuna, barracuda, trevally, jacks and sea snakes. If you keep your eyes peeled, you can also find nudibranchs, frogfish, flatworms, pygmy seahorses, seamoths, cuttlefish, octopus and all manner of miniature crustaceans in this underwater paradise.
