Stu­dents travel from afar for HPV race

Stu­dents and velo­mo­bile en­thu­si­asts from across the State de­scended on Bus­sel­ton fore­shore on Sun­day for the an­nual Pedal Prix.

Bus­sel­ton hosted a six-hour non-se­ries race, with about 43 teams com­pet­ing in the en­durance race. The event — which is the fourth hu­man-pow­ered ve­hi­cle race to take place in WA — saw teams race hu­man pow­ered ve­hi­cles around an 850m closed con­trolled cir­cuit.

Some stu­dents trav­elled from Vic­to­ria to par­tic­i­pate. Emer­ald District Ed­u­ca­tion Cen­tre’s trip to the west paid off when their team, Fire Breath­ing Rub­ber Duck­ies, led by 15 laps and to­talled 233 laps.

St Mary MacKil­lop and Ge­or­giana Mol­loy Angli­can School’s cat­e­gory two teams placed equal 25th, com­plet­ing 156 laps.
