Vasse MLA Libby Mettam says news regional WA continues to languish under the scourge of methamphetamine reflects failed Government election promises.

“Funding cuts of $154,000 in this year’s budget for the crucial WA Methamphetamine Helpline mean one in four calls go answered,” she said.

“Furthermore, the WA Government cut $8.7 million from the bud- get, and have walked away from the promise of a standalone facility in the South West dedicated to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

“Instead, the additional 33 beds are to be in . . . locations across the region which raised alarm bells from local support groups.”

Ms Mettam said the Methamphetamine Action Plan’s proposed greater support for the South West was not delivered.
