Organisers of the Margaret River Ultra Marathon are urging runners to register early to avoid missing out on what is expected to be another big event.

Organised by Rapid Ascent, the event will take hundreds of runners along an 80km trail through coastal cliffs, rocky outcrops and sandy white beaches on May 4.

This year’s inaugural event attracted some 700 runners from across the country and offered participants the option of tackling the entire track as a solo runner, or as part of a relay team of up to five people, running between 10km and 20km each. Champion ultra run- ner Kellie Emmerson from Melbourne was part of the winning mixed relay team in May and said the run was amazing and beautiful.

“I’ll definitely be back to run it again next year,” she said.

The course starts at Hamelin Bay and finishes at the Cheeky Monkey Brewery and Cidery at Wilyabrup.
