Gal­lipoli pine trib­ute

A de­scen­dant of the orig­i­nal Lone Pine tree, which the in­fa­mous bat­tle at Gal­lipoli is named after, was planted in Cowaramup’s Pi­o­neer Park on Sun­day.

Com­mem­o­rat­ing the 100th an­niver­sary of the Ar­mistice, the Re­mem­brance Day cer­e­mony in­volved the Mar­garet River Re­turned and Ser­vices League, com­mu­nity groups, and pa­trons Rob and Julie Saun­ders. Mr Saun­ders pro­vided the seedling he sourced from the Aus­tralian War Me­mo­rial in Can­berra.

The Saun­ders fam­ily, res­i­dents, and the Mar­garet River RSL planted the pine tree on Sun­day.
