Fanning fears for Pro future

Augusta Margaret River Times - - News -

Surfing legend Mick Fanning has said the future of the Margaret River Pro hangs in the balance because of indifferent conditions.

The Pro has been the subject of speculation it could be moved to Kalbarri from 2020.

Last year’s Pro, cancelled because of high-profile shark attacks, was wrapped up at Bali’s Uluwatu surf break.

“To be honest, the main break there is pretty average and I really didn’t enjoy surfing it,” Fanning told The West Australian this week.

“The surrounding waves around that area are world class and the more they can get to those other locations like North Point and The Box, the better the events will be. But they can be a little fickle and it’s fingers crossed they get the right swells each time they show up.”
