Clean waves for last comp
Indian Ocean Longboard Club held its final club competition for the year at Yallingup on Saturday.
Clean waves greeted competitors who had come from across the Capes for the event.
Points were added to scores given during the first five club competitions of the year to determine the 2018 champions.
Dunsborough’s Paul Burke was crowned open champion and Margaret River’s Mick Colman won the Gill Warman Award.
The title of women’s champion went to Amanda Curley, and Jacob McIver won the junior championship.
The club celebrated the end of the season with a wind-up and presentation evening at Caves House.
Ray Holden and Andrew Bland tied for the club person of the year award, and long-time IOLC member, Margaret River resident and former president Bill Gibson was awarded life membership.
President Paul Burke thanked competitors, friends, families and the club sponsors.
The club’s premiere annual event, the Yallingup Malibu Classic, will be held on December 1 and 2 at Yallingup Mainbreak.
