Clean waves for last comp

In­dian Ocean Long­board Club held its fi­nal club com­pe­ti­tion for the year at Yallingup on Satur­day.

Clean waves greeted com­peti­tors who had come from across the Capes for the event.

Points were added to scores given dur­ing the first five club com­pe­ti­tions of the year to de­ter­mine the 2018 cham­pi­ons.

Duns­bor­ough’s Paul Burke was crowned open cham­pion and Mar­garet River’s Mick Col­man won the Gill War­man Award.

The ti­tle of women’s cham­pion went to Amanda Cur­ley, and Ja­cob McIver won the ju­nior cham­pi­onship.

The club cel­e­brated the end of the sea­son with a wind-up and pre­sen­ta­tion evening at Caves House.

Ray Holden and An­drew Bland tied for the club per­son of the year award, and long-time IOLC mem­ber, Mar­garet River res­i­dent and for­mer pres­i­dent Bill Gib­son was awarded life mem­ber­ship.

Pres­i­dent Paul Burke thanked com­peti­tors, friends, fam­i­lies and the club spon­sors.

The club’s pre­miere an­nual event, the Yallingup Mal­ibu Clas­sic, will be held on De­cem­ber 1 and 2 at Yallingup Main­break.
