Club sad­dles up for healthy eat­ing

Mar­garet River Horse­man’s and Horses and Pony Club will host its Christ­mas showjump­ing com­pe­ti­tion on Sun­day and is pro­mot­ing healthy eat­ing op­tions for all at­ten­dees.

The club is tak­ing part in the Race Around the State healthy eat­ing cam­paign, sup­ported by the Pony Club of WA and with fund­ing from gov­ern­ment spon- sor Health­way. Can­teen co-or­di­na­tor Lee Gil­lan said the lo­cal club was in sev­enth po­si­tion in the com­pe­ti­tion, and would ac­quire new equip­ment if it was the over­all win­ner.

“As a sport­ing club, we are very lucky to live in a re­gion where we have a large va­ri­ety of fresh pro­duce and the sup­port of lo­cal busi­nesses, which are al­ways happy to do­nate their prod­ucts for our club events,” she said.

“Be­ing a part of this cam­paign has given us the op­por­tu­nity to as­sess and stream­line our food menu. We have been given tools, recipes and on­go­ing sup­port to help create a fan­tas­tic can­teen.”

The event kicks off at 9am at the club on Roxburgh Road.
