Alzheimer’s WA scheme rolls out in the region
Margaret River was officially listed as a dementia-friendly community this week.
With funds from the Shire of Augusta-Margaret River, local Lions and Rotary, the Alzheimer’s WA scheme was unveiled on Wednesday.
Chief executive Rhonda Parker said Alzheimer’s WA was “delighted” Margaret River would be the latest regional centre “to embrace the initiative that empowers communities with the knowledge on how best to support and involve people living with dementia”.
Mrs Parker said a dementia diagnosis was often accompanied by stigma, isolation, discrimination and misunderstanding .
