Canon australia reCently ran a promotion enCouraging photographers to think beyond the popular destinations for overseas travel, highlighting some more exotiC destinations whiCh all provide great photo opportunities.
We can all be a fairly predictable lot. When it comes to overseas travel, Australians have some firm favourites – Bali, Fiji, Italy, the UK and Hawaii are all hugely popular destinations. But it’s a big wide world out there and there’s a lot more to see… especially if you want to come home with more interesting collections of travel photos.
Canon Australia has been running a promotion to encourage photographers to roam further afield, and has been giving away a total of 30 trips to ten such exotic locations – namely Canada, Egypt and Jordan, Iceland, India, Japan, Lapland, Madagascar, Morocco, Peru and Russia. This promotion ended on 6 January, but we thought you could still be inspired by this portfolio of images – from many of these locations – cre- ated by The Canon Collective and Canon Community members who have already travelled there. And, if you do decide to take the plunge, there are also some handy tips from Canon Master and renowned travel photographer Richard I’Anson, who has been published globally over the past three decades and has illustrated many of Lonely Planet’s travel guides. To further whet your appetite for more adventurous travel, we’ve also included a few juicy quotes from the featured photographers.
The Canon Collective program is a truly ambitious one. The key objective is to assist photographers at all levels to improve their skills, but the program’s scope and extent is unlike anything that’s been seen in Australia before, including many photo expeditions to dramatic locations both locally and overseas. So… what are you waiting for?
