Type: Enthusiast-level digital mirrorless camera with Nikon Z bayonet lens mount

Focusing: Automatic via 209-points wide-area system (90 percent vertical/horixontal frame coverage) using hybrid phase/contrast detection. Focus points may be selected manually or automatically with Pinpoint, Single-Point, Dynamic Area, Wide Area Large, Wide Area Small, Wide Area Large – People, Wide Area Large – Animals, Auto Area, Auto Area – People and Auto Area – Animals. One-shot and continuous modes with auto switching in AF-A mode. ‘3D Tracking’ mode with face/eye, face and animal eye detection modes. Adjustable tracking sensitivity (five steps, Quick to Delayed). Exposure Modes: Continuously-variable program with shift, shutter-priority auto, aperturepriority auto, metered manual, Auto, i-TTL auto flash and manual flash.

Shutter: Electronically-controlled, vertical travel, focal plane type, 30-1/4000 second plus ‘B’ (900-1/4000 second in manual exposure mode). Flash sync up to 1/200 second. Exposure compensation up to +/-5.0 EV in 1/3 or 1/2 stop increments. Sensor shutter and ‘electronic first curtain shutter’ available to reduce noise and vibrations. 2.0 or 3.0 seconds).

Viewfinder: 1.0cm OLED-type EVF with 2.36 megadots resolution. Coverage = 100% vertical/horizontal. Magnification = 1.02x (50mm lens at infinity). Eyepiece strength adjustment built-in. Adjustable for brightness (seven levels) and colour temperature. 7.5cm TFT LCD monitor with 1.04 million dots resolution, tilt/ swing adjustments and touchscreen controls. Adjustable for brightness (11 levels) and colour temperature. Auto/manual switching between EVF and monitor.

Flash: No built-in flash. External flash units connect via ISO 518 hotshoe.

Clip duration limited to 29 minutes and 59 seconds, and a new file is automatically started when the 4.0 GB file size limit is reached (up to eight files).

Video Features: Electronic image stabilisation, 4K time lapse recording, focus peaking displays, time code, zebra patterns (choice of two), 8-bit 4:2:2 output via HDMI with simultaneous 8-bit 4:2:0 internal recording to the memory card.

Recording Media: Single slot for SD format, with UHS-I speed support.

Continuous Shooting: Up to 83 frames at 11fps in JPEG/large/fine mode with continuous AF adjustment, up to 44 frames in RAW mode (12-bit colour, 9.0fps for up to 36 frames with 14-bit RAW capture).

White Balance: Auto/manual control with eight presets and six custom settings. White balance fine-tuning available for AWB and all presets plus manual colour temperature setting (2500-10,000 degrees Kelvin, in ten degree increments or mired units) and white balance bracketing over three, five, seven or nine frames. Four auto correction settings – Auto, Auto 0 ‘Keep White’ which eliminates the warmer hues of incandescent lighting, Auto 1 ‘Keep Overall Atmosphere’ partially retains the warmer tones of incandescent lighting, and Auto 2 ‘Keep Warm Lighting Colours’ which maintains the warmer tones of incandescent lighting.
