Type: 35mm single lens reflex camera with interchangeable lenses using Olympus OM bayonet lens mount. Focusing: Manual via split-image rangefinder and microprism collar (Focusing Screen 1-13).
Metering: TTL fully-averaging measurement using two CdS cells. Open aperture metering with centre-weighted average measurements. Metering range = EV 2.017.0 (ISO 100 and f/1.4).
ISO Range: 25-1600.
Exposure Modes: Manual.
Shutter Type/Speeds: Mechanicallycontrolled focal plane, horizontal travel, cloth curtains. 1-1/1000 second plus ‘B’. Flash sync up to 1/60 second.
Exposure Compensation: Not applicable. Viewfinder: Optical pentaprism type with interchangeable focusing screens (choice of 13). Magnification = 0.92x. Coverage = 97 percent. Scene coverage = 97 percent. Needle-type plus/minus exposure indicator. OM-1N has flash ready/OK LED indicator.
Film Transport: Manual frame advance via single/multiple-stroke lever with 150-degree throw and 30-degree standoff. Manual rewind via fold-out crank. Double exposure override. OM-1MD and OM-1N accept Motor Drive 1 and Winder 2 for automatic film advance at up to 5.0fps. Winder 1 has single frame auto advance.
Flash: External flash units sync via accessory hotshoe (Accessory Shoe 1, or 4 for the OM-1N) or PC terminal.
General Features: Mirror lock-up, cable release terminal, depth-of-field preview lever, self-timer (4 to 12 seconds delay, cancellable), detachable camera back. Power Source: One 1.35V button-type battery (625 type). Wein MRB625 zinc-air battery is a direct replacement. Can be used with a 675-type hearing aid battery (which may require a small modification to the battery compartment).
