CATERPILLAR OFFERS a complete line of purpose-built forestry equipment for efficient and profitable timber harvesting operations, including machines for loading and handling logs. The Cat® Forest Machine (FM) is a versatile performer that is configurable for log loading as well as a wide range of other applications.

There are four models of the Cat Forest Machine line. These track machines can perform log handling and loading tasks in the woods or mill yard while other applications include timber harvesting and processing, shovel logging, stump removal, road building, and more.

The line of Forest Machines includes the 147 hp (110 kW) Cat 320D2 FM, 188 hp (140 kW) Cat 324D FM, and the 204 hp (152 kW) Cat 325D FM. The most powerful model, the Cat 568 FM, is equipped with the 319 hp (238 kW) C9.3 engine.— more than competitive machines in the same class.

The Cat Forest Machine line consists of rugged, powerful, industry leaders in reliability and durability and are known for their strength and stability working in any forestry application. All models are powered by Cat ACERT™ engines, which provide high performance, exceptional power, and unmatched fuel efficiency. Large side-by-side cooling packages and standard reversing fan allow the machines to work in high ambient temperature environments while maintaining optimum fluid working temperatures. The hydraulic system provides efficient power and smooth control to operate a large variety of forestry work tools, and Caterpillar offers a selection of boom, stick and heel attachments and a full line of heavy-duty logging grapples.

The Cat Forest Machine features upper and lower frame designs using up-sized swing drive and undercarriage components that reduce downtime and operating costs. The largest swing bearing diameters in the industry and unique bearing design extend swing system and upper frame life. Swing power and performance are enhanced for moving large payloads quickly and efficiently. Lower track frame is a high, wide design, maximizing stability when swinging large loads at longer reach distances. Positive Pin Retention (PPR2) track link assemblies, used on most models, eliminate pin walking, keeping joints tight, sealing in grease lubrication and keeping debris out.

All Cat Forest Machine models feature purpose-built forestry cabs that reduce operator fatigue with maximum space, exceptional comfort, and excellent sight lines. Cabs are certified for ROPS, FOPS, OPS, WCB, and OR-OSHA standards.

Product Link™ is standard on all Cat Forest Machine models, which helps loggers to track hours, fuel consumption, location, fault codes and performance, and to manage operating costs and productivity.

Caterpillar also offers a wide range of other machines for lifting and loading in the mill yard, including four electric stationary mount loaders, wheel loaders, and material handlers.

Caterpillar forestry equipment is designed and built for easy maintenance and service, and customers are supported by the industry’s largest network of dealers who will keep them up and running with parts availability, field services, state-of-the art diagnostic programs, remote monitoring, and more.
