PEFC Sec­re­taryGen­eral to visit Aus­tralia for AFS talks

THE CEO and Sec­re­tary-Gen­eral of the Pro­gram for En­dorse­ment of Forest Cer­ti­fi­ca­tion (PEFC) Ben Gun­neberg will visit Aus­tralia next month to take part in a round of meet­ings and site vis­its.

Mr Gun­neberg will be a guest of Aus­tralian Forestry Stan­dard Ltd and will be key­note speaker at an AFS-hosted din­ner in Mel­bourne on 21 March– the In­ter­na­tional Day of Forests.

AFS Ltd is the Aus­tralian mem­ber of PEFC and is one of 30 na­tional forest cer­ti­fi­ca­tion schemes en­dorsed by the PEFC, the wworld’s largest forest cer­ti­fi­ca­tion sys­tem.

The Aus­tralian Forestry Stan­dard has been de­vel­oped in ac­cor­dance with the pro­ce­dures of the Aus­tralian Ac­cred­i­ta­tion Board for Stan­dards De­vel­op­ment Or­gan­i­sa­tions (ABSDO), en­sur­ing that it meets all the rig­or­ous re­quire­ments nec­es­sary for it to be of­fi­cially recog­nised as an Aus­tralian stan­dard. AFS has also been fully eval­u­ated as meet­ing PEFC’s sus­tain­abil­ity bench­marks.

While in Aus­tralia, Mr Gun­neberg will take the op­por­tu­nity to visit AFS sup­ply-chain stake­hold­ers.
