Australian Four Four Two - - PREMIER LEAGUE - NICK ILLINGSWORTH, WWW.THEUGLYINSIDE.NET

This season will be different to last because

we have a manager and not a coach in charge.

Our most underrated player is

Wesley Hoedt. He will show that he has the class that’s needed to lead the defence.

Our pantomime villain is

Virgil van Dijk. He’s a sulking disgrace to the term ‘professional footballer’.

The best away fans are

from Liverpool and Manchester United.

The player I would happily drive to another club is

Maya Yoshida. He has been a great servant to the club, but the fact that he has been a regular for the past 18 months shows how our standards have fallen. If he left, it would show that we are back on track. I have got nothing against him, though, as he’s a great club man.

The opposition player I secretly admire is

Adam Lallana. He broke our hearts, but we’re hopeful that one day we can love him again. Keep an eye out for Josh Sims.

This season we will finish

back in the top 10.

FFT asks: Were you pleased or a little bit underwhelmed to see Mark Hughes given a three-year contract this summer?

A bit of both: pleased, because he brought discipline to the squad; underwhelmed, as it seems to be a step back from our modern outlook. Not many Southampton fans are too displeased, though.
