The ray’s up­per sur­facesurf is a pale yel­low­ish-brown with large blue dots. It is dis­tin­guish­abledis­tin from other bluespot­ted­bluesp maskrays by its tail pat­tern­pat of spots. It also has nar­row­nar black-and-white bands­band near the tip. Around north­ernno Aus­tralia, it in­hab­its deep sandy bot­toms, 25–90m down, near rocky or co­ral reefs.
