WATCH A METEOR SHOWER, RED CENTRE

-

The Lyrid meteor shower will light up our skies on 16–25 April, and a great place to enjoy it is Australia’s outback, which is free from light pollution. Fragments of a passing comet, the Lyrids are best viewed an hour before sunrise when you may see 10–20 flashes of light an hour. You can see the shower at Watarrka National Park (Kings Canyon) and Ormiston and Glen Helen gorges in Tjoritja/West MacDonnell National Park, but also any outback spot with little cloud cover will do.
