DURING THE WEEK YOU WILL:

• Learn about opalised fossils and Australia in the age of dinosaurs. • Learn to recognise/identify fossils. • Search for fossils with privileged access to carefully guarded sites. • Hunt for opals at a tailout – the moment of truth for an opal miner. • Find, group and record specimens including microfossils.

• Expose and extract fossils from sandstone blocks.

• Mend and reassemble fossils and learn about casting and moulding. • Visit a real underground opal mine and look for gems and fossils. • Enjoy the sights, sounds and hospitality of the opal fields.
