DUGONG CALVING, MORETON BAY

Moreton Bay Marine Park is home to up to 600 dugongs. Calves are born in September and October each year, although dugongs can be spotted in the waters here year-round by lucky observers. The banks of Moreton Island, 40km from Brisbane, are one place from where to spy grazing sea cows, but your best bet may be on an organised wildlife tour, such as the Marine Discovery Cruise offered by Tangalooma Island Resort.
