On the shores of Roe­buck Bay in the Kim­ber­ley, the Broome Bird Ob­ser­va­tory is uniquely placed for vis­i­tors to en­joy views of hun­dreds of thou­sands of mi­gra­tory shore­birds – many of which are in breed­ing-sea­son fin­ery in March. Half a mil­lion wad­ing birds be­gin ar­riv­ing in Septem­ber from as far away as Siberia and stick around un­til re­turn­ing to their breed­ing grounds from April on.
