SPOT A PLATYPUS, EUNGELLA NATIONAL PARK

-

Head 80km inland from Mackay to Eungella at the head of the Pioneer Valley. Shrouded in mist, this rainforest haven is one of the most reliable places to observe wild platypuses. For the best chance, walk to the viewing decks at Broken River at dawn or dusk and look for bubbles, which these monotremes produce as they forage on the river bottom.
