Shoalhaven/Kangaroo Valley
Getting there
Kangaroo Valley is located in the rolling hinterland of the NSW Shoalhaven region, about 160km south of Sydney, accessed via Moss Vale Road.
Where to stay
There are numerous campsites along both the Kangaroo and Shoalhaven rivers, as well as a range of accommodation options throughout Kangaroo Valley, including motels, self-contained cabins and cottages, B&Bs, guesthouses, farm stays and caravan parks.
What to do
Kangaroo Valley Safaris offers self-guided itineraries for exploring the local waterways by kayak or canoe, ranging from a few hours to a few days. These can include drop-offs and pick-ups at various points along the waterways.
For those more inclined to dry-land experiences, the nearby Three Views walking track in Morton NP is an accessible 9.5km return bushwalk with – as the name suggests – three prominent cliff-edge viewing points that include lookouts over Lake Yarrunga, the Tallowa Dam and Shoalhaven Gorge.
There are plenty of coastal activities within easy reach of a weekend base in Kangaroo Valley, including world-class snorkelling at Jervis Bay and the famous surf breaks of Mollymook Beach. More info
