3 Nayri Niara

-

ABORIGINAL OWNED social enterprise Nayri Niara creates life-changing experiences, such as a festival on Bruny Island connecting people to Country, culture, community and ceremony. It also offers workshops, exhibitions and mentoring programs, and is now based in the LongHouse in Hobart. “We’re an events space but based upon community connections,” says Nayri Niara’s founder and creative director, Yorta Yorta woman Ruth Langford. This Indigenous medicines therapist and songwoman was born in lutruwita and still lives in the Tasmanian Aboriginal community. Her business partner is teacher, healer and guide Donna Mason. While the LongHouse is an urban setting, Ruth knows that “no matter where you are, Country and the Spirit of Life is here. You may have to sink a little bit deeper, expand yourself a little bit deeper, but it’s here.” nayriniaragoodspirit.com
