Expedition highlights

● Immerse yourself in the natural beauty of K’gari (Fraser Island) and discover unique flora and fauna, perched lakes and rainforest­s while you traverse the tracks in this world-renowned UNESCO World Heritage site, famed for its exceptiona­l natural beauty, outstandin­g coastal dunes and evolutiona­ry history.

Walk your worries away on K’gari

● Day 1: Coastal Walk, McKenzies Jetty Walking: approx. 6–7km; 2–3 hours, easy

Board the 1pm barge to K’gari (Fraser Island). Watch for dolphins, sea turtles, dugongs and whales (in season). After lunch, transfer to the track near the historic site of McKenzies Jetty for a gentle walk through the forest and along the beach.

● Day 2: Lake Garawonger­a, Valley of the Giants Walking: approx. 10– 12km; 6 hours, easy–moderate

While walking keep a keen eye out for the abundant birdlife, echidnas and native flora as the trail weaves through forest, to Lake Garawonger­a. After lunch, descend into the Valley of the Giants. Encounter some of the island’s oldest and largest trees.

● Day 3: Dilli Village, Lake Boomanjin, Lake Benaroon Walking: approx. 15km; 6 hours; moderate

From Dilli Village follow the boardwalk across the creek where swamp banksia, melaleucas, sedges and coral ferns thrive. Continue through eucalypt forest to Lake Boomanjin, the largest perched lake in the world. After lunch continue to Lake Benaroon for a swim.

● Day 4: Lake McKenzie, Basin Lake, Pile Valley Walking: approx. 10km; 3.5–4 hours; moderate

Walk through rainforest into the Pile Valley. Cross Wanggoolba Creek en route to Central Station. After lunch walk into Lake McKenzie. Transfer by 4WD to Kingfisher Bay before the barge returns you to the mainland.
