GUITARIST TO WATCH
CURRENTLY PLAYING WITH: Bonjah
USUALLY FOUND PLAYING: Australia, New Zealand, Europe or Japan. YEARS ON THE FRETBOARD: 16. I started playing very bad guitar when I was 14 at school, and my Nana bought me a guitar after I busted my knee playing cricket and had to take six months off. Thanks Nana.
HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR PLAYING STYLE? Less is more.
FIRST AXE: A white Japanese Fender, it sung like a bird. CURRENT AXE: A Gibson 335 and a Fender Strat. RIG/PEDALS: Hot Cake, Turbo RAT, Cry Baby, T-Rex Moller, Memory Boy analog delay, M9 Stompbox Modeler and a Fender Deluxe amp.
SECRET WEAPON: Fooling people into thinking that I am a good guitarist! On a serious note, probably playing with guys in the band I’ve known half my life. They are great players/friends and that certainly helps. If there is no solid foundation it’s pretty hard to build a house.
FAVOURITE GUITARIST OF ALL TIME: That’s a four-way tie between David Gilmour, Jimi Hendrix, Jimmy Page and John Frusciante.
FAVOURITE CURRENT LOCAL PLAYER:
Alex Laksa from Kingswood.
