In this exclusive interview, Steve Flack chats with iconic INXS guitarist Tim Farriss.

With over 30 million records sold worldwide (including #1 spots in four continents) and a performance history of some 4,000 live shows to over 20 million people in almost 50 countries, it’s no doubt that – as well as cementing themselves as Australia’s all-time most successful rock band – INXS are an international juggernaut.

During the Summer XS tour of 1991, INXS played Wembley Stadium in front of 77,000 people. At one point, Michael Hutchence told Tim to “play the f***ing riff, Timmy,” which led to Farriss being nicknamed The Riff Meister, and later, The Riff Sherriff. The moment was captured on film and CD for LiveBabyLive – mandatory viewing, if you’ve never seen it.

In this issue, you will also find a tutorial looking at the signature guitar playing style of INXS.
