It stands to reason that sisters Jen and Jess Clavin would release LP3 in the midst of the American summer; it’s the kind of crunchy and cool power-pop album you’d blast from open car windows as you sped to the beach with three of your best mates – a tad cheesy at times, but fiery and forceful enough that you can’t help but clap and sing along. Meddling a savvy balance of rough, angular punk sensibilities and airy, luminescent pop vibes, the 12-tracker zooms by in what feels like a matter of seconds – there’s barely any room to breathe amidst the all the energy, though that feels like part of its charm. Highlights come in the viciously groovy “Hard To Kill” and pseudo-rustic “Real Life”, both wielding soundscapes thick with tight, layered effects and belting riffs.
