THE WHITE STRIPES RELEASE ICONIC 2005 PERFORMANCE IN FULL

-

The White Stripes have shared the full version of their iconic From The Basement performance for the very first time. Recorded at Maida Vale Studios in London in November 2005, the show saw the band perform hits including “Blue Orchid”, “Forever For Her (Is Over For Me)” and “As Ugly As I Seem”, as well as a cover of Captain Beefheart’s “Party Of Special Things to Do”. Conceptualised by Radiohead producer Nigel Godrich, From The Basement was a webseries that ran between 2007 and 2009, with The White Stripes and Radiohead’s Thom Yorke performing during its pilot episode.

This free release (streaming now on the band’s YouTube channel) comes as Jack White’s latest display of random generosity. Last year, the frontman bought a Scottish busker a brand-new $3,000 Fender Custom Shop Strat, after the performer’s guitar was smashed on the street.
